Frequently Asked Questions: GMP Grade Plasmid DNA Production Service

1, What is the plasmid?
2, What are the applications for research grade plasmid DNA, endo-toxin free grade plasmid and GMP / GLP plasmid DNA?
3, How much plasmid do I need to send you? How do you want it to be sent?
4, How long does it take till I receive the high quality plasmid DNA?
5, What sort of information do I need to provide for the service?
6, Can I send my plasmid as bacterial stocks?

1, What is the plasmid?
Answer: Plasmids are small, circular, double-stranded DNA molecules that are physically separated from the chromosomal DNA and can replicate independently.

2, What are the applications for research grade plasmid DNA, endo-toxin free grade plasmid and GMP / GLP plasmid DNA?
Answer: The research grade plasmid DNA can be used for standard DNA manipulations including re-cloning, sequencing and transformation. Endo-toxin free grade plasmid DNAs are commonly used for transfection in vitro or in vivo. While, GMP / GLP plasmid DNAs are used for pre-clinical trials in gene therapy or vaccination including toxicology and biodistribution studies.

3, How much plasmid do I need to send you? How do you want it to be sent?
Answer: Please send in at least 1 μg of plasmid DNA (concentration > 100ng / μl) or your transformed bacteria. If you are sending transformed bacteria with your plasmids, please offer the information of the host bacteria and the antibiotic selection marker.

4, How long will it take till I receive the high quality plasmid DNA?
Answer: Creative Biogene can provide the fastest turnaround time of any supplier in the industry. But the exact lead time depends on your detailed information and quantity request of the project.

5, What sort of information do I need to provide for the service?
Answer: The information which customer need to provide for the service as follows:
1. Number of plasmid.
2. Amount of DNA for each plasmid.
3. Plasmid map to check for transformation strain compatibility.
4. Antibiotic for proper plasmid selection.
5. Insert name so it can be confirmed to not be toxic or pathogenic.
6. High or low copy plasmid.
7. Information for sequence or restriction enzyme verification, if confirmation is needed.

6, Can I send my plasmid as bacterial stocks?
Answer: Typically, we request to receive the plasmids in liquid format as purified DNA, since this is most stable. However, bacterial stocks would also be suitable, provided that they are shipped to us within 2-3 days of preparation to ensure that the bacteria retain the plasmid.
