Potassium Channel Stable Cell Lines

Potassium channels are a family of diverse membrane proteins in excitable and non-excitable cells. The design of potassium channels allows potassium ions to pass through the membrane but blocks the flow of other ions, especially sodium ions. They are found in all cells in the body and can influence processes as diverse as cognition, muscle contraction and hormone secretion. The human genome carries more than 90 genes encoding the major subunits of potassium channels. Potassium channels are subdivided into families based on their structural and functional properties. The largest family consists of potassium channels that are activated by membrane depolarization, and other families consist of channels that are activated by a rise in intracellular calcium ions or are continuously active.

The physiological characteristics of potassium channels make them therapeutic targets for a variety of diseases. Potassium channel dysfunction has been implicated in individuals with conditions such as hyper-and hypokalemic periodic paralysis, myotonia, and epilepsy. A growing body of research is elucidating the mechanisms of these diseases, and these studies delve down to the molecular level. Advances in disease research have led to the development of treatments. Potassium channel modulators, such as openers or blockers, have also been discovered through chemical synthesis, virtual screening, or a combination of both. These modulators block or activate potassium channels, thereby improving pathological conditions.

Our Potassium Channel Stable Cell Lines

Drawing on decades of experience in cell line engineering, Creative Biogene has accessioned a large collection of cell lines that stably express high levels of potassium channels. These potassium channel stable cell lines have excellent in vitro assay sensitivity and reproducibility. This cell line enables the assessment of ion channel function by detecting electrophysiological signals. Upon ligand/agonist induced channel activation, response can be detected via automated or manual electrophysiological techniques.

Application of Potassium Channel Stable Cell Lines

  • Study potassium channel gene functions
  • Assessment of potassium channel function via detection of electrophysiological signals
  • Studying the pathogenesis and treatment of channelopathy diseases
  • High-throughput drug screening

Key Features of Our Potassium Channel Stable Cell Lines

  • The included cell line overexpresses potassium channels.
  • Our potassium channel stable cell lines have been rigorously tested and validated.
  • The target gene can be stably inherited for more than 25 generations.
  • Our potassium channel stable cell lines yield exceptional in vitro assay sensitivity and reproducibility.
