Zebrafish ORF Clones
Zebrafish (Danio rerio), named for the horizontal stripes on both sides of the adult, is a tropical freshwater fish of the minnow family. In recent years, zebrafish has been used as a model system for the study of vertebrate development due to its unique characteristics compared with other vertebrate systems that facilitate genetic studies. These characteristics include a reasonably short lifetime, large numbers of progenies, external fertilization and embryonic development, and translucent embryos. Detailed automated and manual annotation provides evidence for more than 26,000 protein-coding genes, the largest gene set in a vertebrate sequenced to date. More than 70% of human disease genes have orthologs in zebrafish, and this species has recently become a model system for human disease and translational research, including cancer, inflammation and infection, regeneration, human neurological disorders, microbiota studies research, and drug discovery and development.
Open reading frames (ORFs) are genes that have been identified as key building blocks of proteins. By extracting, isolating and replicating ORFs from the zebrafish genome, researchers can study the roles of these proteins in different biological contexts. These clones are widely used in functional genomics studies, especially those related to gene expression, protein function, and protein-protein interactions. In drug discovery, researchers carefully use these clones to identify and validate new therapeutic targets. Once inside the cell, these ORFs express genes that produce abnormal proteins, leading to a variety of pathological conditions. By using zebrafish ORF clones to study such aberrant protein behavior, scientists can identify and design potential therapeutic strategies.
Combining unique and versatile cloning technologies, Creative Biogene has created a large number of high-quality zebrafish ORF clones where you can find your gene of interest. Premade ORF clones eliminate the initial cloning and validation procedures for gene discovery studies. There is no need to perform tedious RNA isolation, cDNA synthesis, cloning, sequencing, and validation procedures steps.
