Gene Information

Cat. No. CSC-RI0028
Description This cell line is engineered to overexpress human KCNA3.
Background Kv1.3 is widely expressed throughout the CNS and in organs/cells involved with immune system such as spleen, tonsils, T-lymphocytes, B-lymphocytes and macrophages. Kv1.3 is involved in the regulation of the resting membrane potential and calcium signalling in lymphocytes and oligodendrocytes. This ion channel is a target for immunosuppressants and Kv1.3 inhibitors have been proven effective treatment in slowing the progression of multiple sclerosis.
Target Gene KCNA3
Gene Species Homo sapiens (Human)
Abbr CHO-HuKCNA3
Alias KCNA3, HLK3, HPCN3, Kv1.3, MK3, HGK5, PCN3, KV1.3, HUKIII

Safety Considerations The following safety precautions should be observed.
1. Use pipette aids to prevent ingestion and keep aerosols down to a minimum.
2. No eating, drinking or smoking while handling the stable line.
3. Wash hands after handling the stable line and before leaving the lab.
4. Decontaminate work surface with disinfectant or 70% ethanol before and after working with stable cells.
5. All waste should be considered hazardous.
6. Dispose of all liquid waste after each experiment and treat with bleach.
