Mouse ORF Clones

Mice and humans diverged from a common ancestor about 90 years ago. Because they are evolutionarily closely related to humans and possess many tractable properties, mice have been used as animal models in biomedical research for more than 50 years to study mammalian development, disease, and test drugs. Nowadays, biological research greatly benefits from the routine application of high-throughput technologies, and similarities and differences between mice and humans have been studied at different levels. Approximately 90% of human and mouse genomic regions are comparable in synteny, with orthologous genes sharing 78.5% amino acid identity.

In 2002, the entire mouse genome was sequenced and revealed approximately 20,000-25,000 protein-coding genes. This broad range of genes has undoubtedly expanded the field of genetic research, as scientists are able to delve deeper into genetic coding, function and variation. An open reading frame (ORF) essentially refers to the portion of a gene sequence that has the potential to be translated into a protein. ORF clone is an important tool for studying protein function, protein-protein interactions, and other genetic processes. Therefore, the research and analysis of mouse ORF clone is of great value.
