Background
Kv1.2 frequently forms heteromultimers with other Kv1.x subunits contributing to the delayed rectifier potassium current in a variety of tissues. The channel is expressed throughout the brain, spinal cord, Schwann cells , the heart atria and ventricles, pancreatic islets, retina and smooth muscle. It is primarily involved with maintaining the resting potential of cells and modulating electrical excitability in neurons and muscles.
