LPS Extraction Kit
Lipopolysaccharides (LPS), also known as endotoxins, are
large molecules consisting of a lipid and a polysaccharide composed of
O-antigen outer core and inner core joined by a covalent bond (Figure 1). They
are found in the outer membrane of Gram-negative bacteria and elicit strong
immune responses in normal mammalian cells. LPS is heat stable endotoxin and has
long been recognized as a crucial factor in septic shock (septicemia) in
humans. The lipid A moiety has been identified as key to the endotoxin activity
of LPS.

LPS preparations have been used in research for the elucidation of LPS structure, metabolism, physiology, immunology, toxicity, and biosynthesis. Moreover, they have also been used to induce synthesis and
secretion of growth promoting factors such as interleukins. Due to its
connection to septicemia, lipopolysaccharide has been studied to identify
possible targets for antibodies and inhibitors to LPS biosynthesis.
LPS Extraction Kit is a product which can separate and purify LPS present in the outer wall of Gram-negative bacteria. Natural endotoxin consists of LPS, phospholipids and proteins. It is very stable in its
natural state, negatively charged, strong in heat, and has a large molecular weight. The common methods of hot phenol or oil/phenol/chloroform for purifying these molecules are both complex and time-consuming. Creative Biogene's LPS
Extraction Kit offers a new method for extracting LPS with higher yields, fewer
steps and in far less time. Based on a robust water/chloroform/phenol
extraction technology, the LPS extraction kit is flexible enough to run small
culture volumes (<5 or="" large="">100 ml) with similar yields.
