PC-3 cells are derived from a human prostate adenocarcinoma and represent one of the most extensively used androgen-independent prostate cancer models in oncology research. These cells exhibit epithelial-like morphology and are characterized by relatively high proliferative capacity, weak differentiation, and lack of responsiveness to androgen stimulation, making them suitable for studying advanced-stage prostate cancer biology. The Luciferase Reporter Cell Line – PC-3 is established by introducing a stable luciferase reporter system driven by specific promoters or signaling-responsive elements into the parental PC-3 cell background. This enables sensitive detection of transcriptional activity while maintaining the inherent genetic and phenotypic features of the original tumor-derived cell line.

The Luciferase Reporter Cell Line – PC-3 is widely applied in cancer biology and drug discovery, particularly in the investigation of signaling pathways involved in tumor progression, metastasis, and therapeutic resistance. It is frequently used to evaluate the activity of pathways such as PI3K/AKT, NF-κB, and AR-independent growth signaling under pharmacological or genetic perturbation. The luciferase reporter provides a rapid and quantitative readout of pathway modulation, making the system suitable for high-throughput screening of anti-cancer compounds. In addition, this model is valuable for assessing compound efficacy, cytotoxicity, and mechanism-of-action studies in prostate cancer research. Its stability and reproducibility support its use in both basic mechanistic studies and preclinical evaluation of targeted therapies.

Consistent Results for Prostate Cancer Research

Our lab has been using the PC-3 luciferase line for several months now. The stability of the reporter gene is excellent, and we haven't seen any significant loss of signal over time. It has made our drug sensitivity assays much more efficient.
