| Safety Considerations |
The following safety precautions should be observed. 1. Use pipette aids to prevent ingestion and keep aerosols down to a minimum. 2. No eating, drinking or smoking while handling the stable line. 3. Wash hands after handling the stable line and before leaving the lab. 4. Decontaminate work surface with disinfectant or 70% ethanol before and after working with stable cells. 5. All waste should be considered hazardous. 6. Dispose of all liquid waste after each experiment and treat with bleach. |

C3A is a clonal derivative of the human hepatocellular carcinoma cell line HepG2; it is widely used as an in vitro liver model because it retains various liver-specific characteristics. Compared to primary hepatocytes, C3A cells offer superior reproducibility, ease of maintenance, and greater experimental consistency, making them highly suitable for routine cell-based assays and mechanistic studies involving liver biology. The C3A luciferase reporter cell line is an engineered line created by stably introducing a luciferase reporter gene into the C3A cell background. Following stable integration and selection, the cell line constitutively expresses luciferase. Due to the high sensitivity and wide dynamic range of the luminescence signal—as well as its compatibility with microplate-based detection—the C3A-Luc reporter cell line serves as a practical tool for experiments requiring precise measurement of cell number, viability, proliferation, survival, or other reporter-linked biological responses.
The C3A luciferase reporter cell line has broad applications in cell-based research, particularly in scenarios requiring high sensitivity, quantification, and high-throughput screening. In drug discovery and preclinical research, the cell line enables the assessment of compound effects on liver cancer cell proliferation, growth inhibition, and cytotoxicity by monitoring changes in luminescence signals. This makes it highly valuable for screening anticancer drugs, hepatotoxic compounds, metabolic regulators, and small-molecule libraries.
