HCC827 is a well-characterized human non-small cell lung cancer cell line derived from a lung adenocarcinoma and is widely used as an in vitro model for studying epidermal growth factor receptor-driven tumor biology. One of the most important biological features of HCC827 cells is the presence of an activating EGFR mutation, commonly described as an exon 19 deletion, which makes the cells highly sensitive to EGFR tyrosine kinase inhibitors. Because of this genetic background, HCC827 has become a valuable model for investigating lung cancer signaling, targeted therapy response, drug resistance mechanisms, and oncogene addiction. The Luciferase Reporter Cell Line - HCC827 is generated by engineering parental HCC827 cells to stably express a luciferase reporter gene. Through stable integration and selection, the resulting HCC827-Luc reporter cell line maintains the key biological characteristics of the original HCC827 cancer cells while providing a robust bioluminescent signal that can be quantitatively detected after addition of the appropriate luciferase substrate.

The HCC827 Luciferase Reporter Cell Line is widely applicable across numerous fields within tumor biology, pharmacology, and translational medicine research. In in vitro studies, this cell line is highly suitable for drug screening and compound evaluation—particularly for assessing the efficacy of EGFR inhibitors, combination therapies, antibody-drug conjugates (ADCs), tumor immunotherapies, and various novel anti-tumor compounds. Given that luciferase activity typically correlates positively with the number of viable cells expressing this reporter gene, researchers can utilize this cell line to rapidly evaluate drug-induced growth inhibition, cytotoxicity, dose-response relationships, and therapeutic kinetics within high-throughput assay formats, such as 96-well or 384-well plates. Furthermore, by comparing changes in bioluminescence signals following prolonged drug exposure or genetic manipulation, this cell line facilitates the investigation of mechanisms underlying acquired resistance to targeted therapies.
