The ISHIKAWA cell line is a well-established human endometrial adenocarcinoma cell line widely utilized as an in vitro model for studying endometrial epithelial biology, hormonal responsiveness, tumor progression, and the pathogenesis of gynecological cancers. The parental ISHIKAWA cell line is renowned for retaining various characteristics associated with endometrial tissue, including epithelial morphology, the expression of steroid hormone receptors in many of its subclones, and responsiveness to estrogen- or progesterone-related signaling pathways under appropriate culture conditions. The Luciferase Reporter Cell Line – ISHIKAWA is an engineered derivative of the ISHIKAWA cell line that stably expresses a luciferase reporter gene. By integrating a luciferase expression cassette into the cellular genome and selecting for stable clones, this reporter cell line provides consistent and reproducible bioluminescent signals. Depending on the specific design of the reporter system, these signals can reflect viable cell numbers, cellular activity, promoter activity, or the transcriptional response of specific signaling pathways.

The Luciferase Reporter Cell Line – ISHIKAWA is broadly applicable across various fields of biomedical research and drug development. In cancer biology research, this cell line can be used to assess the proliferative capacity, viability, cytotoxicity, and drug sensitivity of endometrial cancer cells following treatment with chemotherapeutic agents, targeted inhibitors, hormonal modulators, natural compounds, or experimental biologics. Given the high sensitivity of luciferase-based assays and their compatibility with multi-well plate formats, this cell product is particularly well-suited for the high-throughput screening of anti-cancer drug candidates, as well as for the comparative analysis of dose-response effects across large compound libraries. Furthermore, when combined with appropriate experimental designs or reporter vector constructs, this cell line enables in-depth investigations into estrogen receptor signaling, progesterone-mediated responses, endocrine disruption effects, and the mechanisms of hormone-dependent transcriptional regulation. In molecular pathway studies, ISHIKAWA-Luc cells facilitate the investigation of signaling networks involved in the progression of endometrial carcinoma—such as PI3K/AKT, MAPK/ERK, Wnt/β-catenin, NF-κB, hypoxia-related pathways, inflammatory signaling, epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT), and the regulation of apoptosis.
