| Safety Considerations |
The following safety precautions should be observed. 1. Use pipette aids to prevent ingestion and keep aerosols down to a minimum. 2. No eating, drinking or smoking while handling the stable line. 3. Wash hands after handling the stable line and before leaving the lab. 4. Decontaminate work surface with disinfectant or 70% ethanol before and after working with stable cells. 5. All waste should be considered hazardous. 6. Dispose of all liquid waste after each experiment and treat with bleach. |

IPEC-J2 is a non-transformed porcine intestinal epithelial cell line originally isolated from the jejunum of a neonatal piglet. Because it retains many characteristics of normal intestinal epithelial cells—including epithelial morphology, the ability to form tight junctions, cellular polarity, and responsiveness to microbial, nutritional, inflammatory, and toxicological stimuli—IPEC-J2 has become a widely utilized in vitro model for studying porcine intestinal physiology and host-pathogen interactions. The IPEC-J2 Luciferase Reporter Cell Line is an engineered reporter cell model constructed by stably introducing a luciferase reporter gene into the IPEC-J2 cellular background. Through stable genomic integration and selection, this cell line maintains consistent levels of luciferase expression during routine culture, thereby enabling sensitive, quantitative, and reproducible detection of cellular responses using luminescence-based assays.
