| Safety Considerations |
The following safety precautions should be observed. 1. Use pipette aids to prevent ingestion and keep aerosols down to a minimum. 2. No eating, drinking or smoking while handling the stable line. 3. Wash hands after handling the stable line and before leaving the lab. 4. Decontaminate work surface with disinfectant or 70% ethanol before and after working with stable cells. 5. All waste should be considered hazardous. 6. Dispose of all liquid waste after each experiment and treat with bleach. |

Vero cells are a widely used continuous cell line derived from the kidney epithelial cells of the African green monkey (Chlorocebus aethiops). They are characterized by robust growth, high adaptability to in vitro culture conditions, and strong susceptibility to a broad range of viral infections, which makes them an essential model system in virology and vaccine research. Due to their interferon-deficient phenotype, Vero cells are particularly permissive to viral replication and are frequently used for viral propagation, plaque assays, and host–virus interaction studies. The Luciferase Reporter Cell Line – Vero is established by stable integration of a luciferase reporter gene driven by pathway-specific promoters or response elements into the parental Vero cell background, enabling real-time, quantitative detection of transcriptional activity while preserving the original cellular properties.
