Cat. No. CSC-RI0164
Description This cell line is engineered to overexpress human SCN5A.
Background The human SCN5A gene encodes the pore-forming subunit of Nav1.5, a voltage-gated sodium channel expressed in heart and upregulated in breast cancer cells. Mutations in SCN5A are responsible for some forms of long QT and short QT syndromes, progressive cardiac conduction defect, sick sinus node syndrome, and dilated cardiomyopathy, Brugada syndrome, congenital heart block, Nav1.5 channels are anti-targets in cardiac risk assessment.
Target Gene SCN5A
Gene Species Homo sapiens (Human)
Abbr CHO-HuSCN5A
Alias SCN5A, CMD1E, CDCD2, CMPD2, HB1, HB2, HBBD, HH1, ICCD, IVF, LQT3, Nav1.5, PFHB1, SSS1, VF1, CMD1E
Host Cell CHO-K1

Safety Considerations The following safety precautions should be observed.
1. Use pipette aids to prevent ingestion and keep aerosols down to a minimum.
2. No eating, drinking or smoking while handling the stable line.
3. Wash hands after handling the stable line and before leaving the lab.
4. Decontaminate work surface with disinfectant or 70% ethanol before and after working with stable cells.
5. All waste should be considered hazardous.
6. Dispose of all liquid waste after each experiment and treat with bleach.

Ideal Model for Cardiac Toxicity Screening

The Nav1.5 CHO-K1 line from Creative Biogene provided incredibly clean electrophysiology data with minimal background leak. The cells recover quickly post-thaw and are a breeze to culture. It perfectly meets our stringent requirements for high-throughput screening.
