Gene Information

Cat. No. CSC-RI0112
Description This cell line is engineered to overexpress human KCNN4.
Background The human KCNN4 gene encodes the pore-forming subunit of KCa3.1, the calcium-activated IK potassium channel. KCa3.1 channels expressed in lymphocytes, fibroblasts, proliferating vascular smooth muscle cells, vascular endothelium and, intestinal and airway epithelia are therapeutic targets in inflammatory diseases in these tissues. KCa3.1 channels expressed in erthrocytes have been investigated as targets for treatment of sickle cell anemia.
Target Gene KCNN4
Gene Species Homo sapiens (Human)
Abbr CHO-HuKCNN4
Alias KCNN4, hIKCa1, hKCa4, hSK4, KCa3.1, SKCa4, SKCa 4, IK1, SK4, KCA4, IKCA1
Host Cell CHO-K1

Safety Considerations The following safety precautions should be observed.
1. Use pipette aids to prevent ingestion and keep aerosols down to a minimum.
2. No eating, drinking or smoking while handling the stable line.
3. Wash hands after handling the stable line and before leaving the lab.
4. Decontaminate work surface with disinfectant or 70% ethanol before and after working with stable cells.
5. All waste should be considered hazardous.
6. Dispose of all liquid waste after each experiment and treat with bleach.
