Gene Information

Cat. No. CSC-RI0110
Description This cell line is engineered to overexpress human KCNN3.
Background The human KCNN3 gene encodes the pore-forming subunit of KCa2.3, the calcium-activated, voltage-gated SK3 potassium channel. KCa2 channels are responsible for afterhyperpolarization that regulates neuronal repetitive excitation. KCa2.3 channels expressed in CNS neurons are therapeutic targets in neurologic disorders (e.g., cognitive impairment and seizure).
Target Gene KCNN3
Gene Species Homo sapiens (Human)
Abbr CHO-HuKCNN3
Alias KCNN3, hSK3, KCa2.3, SKCA3, SKCa 3, SK3
Host Cell CHO-K1
Host Cell Species Cricetulus griseus (Chinese hamster)
Applications

1. Gene expression studies

Safety Considerations The following safety precautions should be observed.
1. Use pipette aids to prevent ingestion and keep aerosols down to a minimum.
2. No eating, drinking or smoking while handling the stable line.
3. Wash hands after handling the stable line and before leaving the lab.
4. Decontaminate work surface with disinfectant or 70% ethanol before and after working with stable cells.
5. All waste should be considered hazardous.
6. Dispose of all liquid waste after each experiment and treat with bleach.
