Gene Information

Cat. No. CSC-RI0119
Description This cell line is engineered to overexpress human KCNJ5.
Background The human KCNJ3 and KCNJ5 genes encode the pore-forming subunits of heteromeric Kir3.1/Kir3.4, an inward rectifier potassium channel. Kir3.1/Kir3.4 channels expressed in heart are linked to M2 muscarinic acetylcholine receptors that mediate vagal inhibitory control of heart rate. Kir3.1/Kir3.4 is a potential target for treatment of atrial fibrillation.
Target Gene KCNJ5
Gene Species Homo sapiens (Human)
Abbr HEK293-HuKCNJ3/KCNJ5
Alias KCNJ5, CIR, GIRK4, KATP1, Kir3.4, IRK-4, LQT13, KIR3.4
Host Cell HEK293
Host Cell Species Homo sapiens (Human)

Safety Considerations The following safety precautions should be observed.
1. Use pipette aids to prevent ingestion and keep aerosols down to a minimum.
2. No eating, drinking or smoking while handling the stable line.
3. Wash hands after handling the stable line and before leaving the lab.
4. Decontaminate work surface with disinfectant or 70% ethanol before and after working with stable cells.
5. All waste should be considered hazardous.
6. Dispose of all liquid waste after each experiment and treat with bleach.
