Background The serotonin receptors, also known as 5-hydroxytryptamine receptors or 5-HT receptors are a group of G protein-coupled receptors
(GPCRs) found in the central and peripheral nervous systems. They mediate both excitatory and inhibitory neurotransmission. The
neurotransmitter serotonin acts as their natural ligand. The 5-hydroxytryptamine receptor 2A (5-HT2A) has been involved in diverse psychiatric disorders like schizophrenia, mood disorders, anxiety disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorder, eating disorders, and Alzheimer"s disease.

Customer Q&As
What is the application of the Human HTR2A Stable Cell Line-U2OS in studying the role of the serotonin receptor 2A (5-HT2A) in mental disorders?

A: The Human HTR2A Stable Cell Line-U2OS, which stably expresses the human serotonin receptor 2A (HTR2A) in U2OS cells, simulates the function of this receptor. This cell line is crucial for studying the role of HTR2A in mental disorders such as schizophrenia and depression. It aids scientists in understanding how HTR2A influences neural transmission and brain function, which is significant for developing new treatment strategies.

How does the Human HTR2A Stable Cell Line-U2OS assist in drug screening to identify potential antipsychotic drugs?

A: Drug screening on the Human HTR2A Stable Cell Line-U2OS allows researchers to evaluate the affinity and effects of potential drugs on the HTR2A receptor. This cell line provides a platform for identifying and optimizing compounds that can affect HTR2A activity, which is significant for developing drugs to treat mental disorders.

How is the Human HTR2A Stable Cell Line-U2OS applied in studying the role of HTR2A receptors in neurodegenerative diseases?

A: The Human HTR2A Stable Cell Line-U2OS can be used to study the role of HTR2A receptors in neurodegenerative diseases, such as Parkinson's disease. This cell line helps scientists understand the expression and functional changes of HTR2A receptors in these diseases and how they affect the survival and death of neural cells.

How is the Human HTR2A Stable Cell Line-U2OS applied in studying the role of HTR2A receptors in cognitive function?

A: The Human HTR2A Stable Cell Line-U2OS can be used to study the role of HTR2A receptors in cognitive function, including memory and attention processes. This cell line helps scientists understand how HTR2A receptors influence cognitive processes in the brain, which has potential value for developing drugs to improve cognitive function.

How is the Human HTR2A Stable Cell Line-U2OS applied in studying the role of HTR2A receptors in pain perception?

A: The Human HTR2A Stable Cell Line-U2OS can be used to study the role of HTR2A receptors in pain perception, particularly in the sensitivity of nerve endings. This cell line helps scientists understand how HTR2A receptors modulate the transmission of pain signals, which is significant for developing new pain management strategies.
