Product Information

Cat. No. CGON-04
Description CpG oligodeoxynucleotides (or CpG ODNs) are synthetic oligonucleotides that contain unmethylated CpG motifs. CpG ODN can bind to and activate a Toll-like receptor 9 (TLR9) and leading to strong immunostimulatory effects. So far 3 major classes of CpG ODNs have been identified, based on their structural and biological characteristics, and are designated Type A, Type B, and Type C. Type A ODNs, which feature a central palindromic CpG-containing phosphodiester (PO) structure followed by a phosphorothioate (PS) homopolymeric G-stretch, are robust inducers of interferon-α (IFN-α) production and dendritic cell maturation. Type B ODNs, in contrast, contain a full phosphorothioate backbone with one or more CpG dinucleotides. They strongly activate B cells but stimulate weakly IFN-α secretion. Type C ODNs, combine the properties of both Type A and B, and are characterized by their complete PS backbone and palindromic CpG-containing motifs. Type C ODNs induce strong IFN-α production from pDC and B cell stimulation.
ODN 2243 can be used as a sequence control for type A ODN 2216.

Q & A

Customer Reviews

Customer Q&As
Can ODN 2243 be stored at room temperature?

A: ODN 2243 can be shipped at room temperature, but upon receipt, please store it at -20°C.

Is it possible to repeatedly freeze and thaw ODN 2243?

A: Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles for ODN 2243, and it can be aliquoted upon receipt for ease of use.

What is the recommended procedure upon receiving ODN 2243?

A: Upon receipt of ODN 2243, add 310μl of endotoxin-free water to 1mg of ODN 2243 and vortex until completely dissolved.

Is ODN 2243 suitable for mice?

A: ODN 2243 is suitable for use in Human, Mouse, Rat, and other species.

Does ODN 2243 have a specific sequence?

A: The sequence of ODN 2243 is 5'-gggGGAGCATGCTCgggggg-3' (lowercase letters are phosphorothioate).

What type of CpG ODN does ODN 2243 belong to?

A: Based on its structure and biological characteristics, ODN 2243 is classified as type A.

What is the function of ODN 2243?

A: ODN 2243 is a potent inducer of interferon-alpha (IFN-α) production and dendritic cell maturation.

What are the differences between ODN 2243 and other B and C types?

A: Type B ODNs have a complete phosphorothioate backbone with one or more CpG dinucleotides. They strongly activate B cells but stimulate weak IFN-α secretion. Type C ODNs combine characteristics of both A and B types, with a complete PS backbone and a sequence containing palindromic CpG motifs. C-type ODNs induce strong IFN-α production in pDCs.

What is ODN 2243? Could you please provide a brief explanation?

A: CpG oligonucleotides (CpG-ODN) are synthetic oligonucleotides containing unmethylated CpG motifs. CpG-ODNs can bind and activate Toll-like receptor 9 (TLR9), resulting in a potent immune stimulatory effect.
