Customer Q&As
What is Cathepsin L?

A: Cathepsin L is a protease enzyme that belongs to the cathepsin family. It is found in lysosomes, where it plays a crucial role in the degradation of proteins.

What is the function of cathepsin L?

A: Cathepsin L cleaves peptide bonds in proteins and helps in recycling cellular components and removing damaged or misfolded proteins.

What physiological processes are involved in cathepsin L?

A: In addition to its role in protein degradation, Cathepsin L is involved in various physiological processes such as antigen processing and presentation, bone resorption, apoptosis, and tissue remodeling.

What diseases are cathepsin L associated with?

A: Cathepsin L has been implicated in the progression of certain diseases, including cancer, osteoporosis, and cardiovascular diseases.

Where is cathepsin L located?

A: Cathepsin L is located within lysosomes, membrane-bound organelles found in animal cells. It is also present in other subcellular compartments such as the nucleus, cytoplasm, and extracellular space.
