| Cat. No. | CSC-RI0038 |
| Description | This cell line is engineered to overexpress human KCNC2. |
| Background | Kv3.2 channels are expressed in neurons known to fire at high frequency. Their biophysical properties could enable cells to generate the fast chains of action potentials involved in neuronal excitability. They are thought to play a role in the regulation of the human 24hr circadian rhythm, as they are highly expressed in the suprachiasmatic nucleus. Kv3.2 channels are also found in the insulin secreting beta-cells of the pancreas and their modulation could provide novel targets in the treatment of type-2 diabetes. |

| Safety Considerations |
The following safety precautions should be observed. 1. Use pipette aids to prevent ingestion and keep aerosols down to a minimum. 2. No eating, drinking or smoking while handling the stable line. 3. Wash hands after handling the stable line and before leaving the lab. 4. Decontaminate work surface with disinfectant or 70% ethanol before and after working with stable cells. 5. All waste should be considered hazardous. 6. Dispose of all liquid waste after each experiment and treat with bleach. |
