Gene Information

Cat. No. CSC-RI0038
Description This cell line is engineered to overexpress human KCNC2.
Background Kv3.2 channels are expressed in neurons known to fire at high frequency. Their biophysical properties could enable cells to generate the fast chains of action potentials involved in neuronal excitability. They are thought to play a role in the regulation of the human 24hr circadian rhythm, as they are highly expressed in the suprachiasmatic nucleus. Kv3.2 channels are also found in the insulin secreting beta-cells of the pancreas and their modulation could provide novel targets in the treatment of type-2 diabetes.
