Gene Information

Cat. No. CSC-RG0879
Background Stimulation of Gi-coupled receptors in heart and brain activates G-protein-gated inward rectifier K+ channels (GIRK) via Gbetagamma (Dascal, N. 2001). This activity can be detected using a GIRK-mediated thallium flux assay described by Niswender et al., 2008. This assay is compatible with HTS and represents a novel and a sensitive assay for detecting Gi/o -coupled GPCRs.
Target Gene Kcnj6
Abbr HEK293-HuCHRM4/rKcnj3/mKcnj6
Alias KCNJ6, GIRK-2, wv, BIR1, GIRK2, KATP2, KCNJ7, Kir3.2, weaver
Host Cell HEK293
Host Cell Species Homo sapiens (Human)

Safety Considerations The following safety precautions should be observed.
1. Use pipette aids to prevent ingestion and keep aerosols down to a minimum.
2. No eating, drinking or smoking while handling the stable line.
3. Wash hands after handling the stable line and before leaving the lab.
4. Decontaminate work surface with disinfectant or 70% ethanol before and after working with stable cells.
5. All waste should be considered hazardous.
6. Dispose of all liquid waste after each experiment and treat with bleach.
