Cat. No. CSC-RI0002
Description This cell line is engineered to overexpress human CACNA1H.
Background The T-type calcium channel is a type of voltage-dependent calcium channel, the alpha1 subunit determines most of the channel"s properties. The T-type calcium channel is one of the components that produce the pacemaker potential in the SA node of the heart. T-type calcium channel blockers are used primarily as antiepileptics. Two voltage-dependent calcium channels play critical roles in the physiology of cardiac muscle: L-type calcium channel and T-type calcium channels voltage-gated calcium channels. L-type channels are important in sustaining an action potential, while T-type channels are important in initiating them.

Safety Considerations

The following safety precautions should be observed.

1. Use pipette aids to prevent ingestion and keep aerosols down to a minimum.

2. No eating, drinking or smoking while handling the stable line.

3. Wash hands after handling the stable line and before leaving the lab.

4. Decontaminate work surface with disinfectant or 70% ethanol before and after working with stable cells.

5. All waste should be considered hazardous.

6. Dispose of all liquid waste after each experiment and treat with bleach.

Customer Q&As
How should Human CACNA1H Stable Cell Line-HEK293 cells be revived upon receipt?

A: For cells shipped on dry ice, if the dry ice has completely melted, immediately recover and culture the cells. Do not refreeze. If there is still dry ice, either recover and culture the cells or place the cryovial containing the cells in liquid nitrogen for storage, but do not store the cells in a high-temperature environment.

What are the cell culture conditions for Human CACNA1H Stable Cell Line-HEK293?

A: Human CACNA1H Stable Cell Line-HEK293 should be cultured at 37°C with 5% CO2.

What drugs is Human CACNA1H Stable Cell Line-HEK293 sensitive to?

A: This cell line is sensitive to ω-conotoxin GVIA and ω-agatoxin IVA but not sensitive to dihydropyridines.

What is the culture medium for the Human CACNA1H Stable Cell Line-HEK293?

A: The culture medium for Human CACNA1H Stable Cell Line-HEK293 is DMEM + 10% FBS. Add an appropriate amount of penicillin-streptomycin solution to the culture medium to prevent potential bacterial contamination.

What is the CACNA1H gene?

A: The human CACNA1H gene encodes the pore-forming subunit of Cav3.2, a voltage-gated T-type calcium channel.

What are the storage conditions for Human CACNA1H Stable Cell Line-HEK293?

A: For cells shipped in culture flasks or centrifuge tubes, they are effective at room temperature for 3-5 days. For cells shipped on dry ice, store them in liquid nitrogen for long-term storage.
