Product Information

Cat. No. PTAK-005
Description The Caspase-4 Activity Assay Kit provides a simple and convenient means for assaying the activity of caspases that recognize the sequence LEVD. The assay is based on spectrophotometric detection of the chromophore p-nitroanilide (pNA) after cleavage from the labeled substrate LEVD-pNA. The pNA light emission can be quantified using a spectrophotometer or a microtiter plate reader at 400 or 405 nm.
Component •Caspase-4
•Caspase-4 assay buffer
•Caspase-4 substrate (WEHD-pNA)
•DTT
Applications Useful for assaying the activity of caspase-4
Size 100 assays
Method Colorimetric

Q & A

Customer Reviews

Customer Q&As
What is caspase-4?

A: Caspase-4 is an enzyme known as a caspase, which stands for "cysteine-aspartic acid protease."

Where is caspase-4 primarily expressed?

A: Caspase-4 is primarily found within the endoplasmic reticulum (ER) of cells.

How is caspase-4 activated?

A: Caspase-4 is activated in response to bacterial lipopolysaccharides (LPS), which are components of the outer membrane of Gram-negative bacteria. Activation of caspase-4 triggers an inflammatory response by promoting the release of pro-inflammatory cytokines.

What is the role of caspase-4 in cellular processes?

A: Besides its role in inflammation, caspase-4 has also been associated with other cellular processes, including ER stress response and autophagy.
