| Description | Creative Biogene's Random Mutagenesis Kit is designed for performing error-prone PCR-based random mutagenesis on a DNA sequence of interest. This kit contains an optimized Taq PCR system which is available to amplify DNA fragments of less than 4 kb with GC content below 70% and provide mutation rates from 1 to 18 mutations per kb. This kit is ideal for studying, altering, or improving wild-type protein function. |
| Sample Type | DNA |
| Features |
• Easy to operate: the kit contains an optimized premix system that can reduce errors and contamination opportunities due to multiple sample additions. • Controlled random mutagenesis: you can select the desired rate of mutation by choosing from a set of experimental conditions. • Amplification of large PCR fragments. |
| Applications |
• Random mutagenesis; • Study of protein structure-function relationships; • improve or alter the characteristics of wild-type proteins; |
| Storage | Store at -20°C. When stored as directed, the product is stable for one year. |
A: Random mutation refers to the spontaneous, random changes in the genetic material (DNA) of an organism. These mutations can occur naturally during DNA replication or as a result of external factors such as radiation or chemical exposure.
A: Error-prone PCR (Polymerase Chain Reaction) is a laboratory technique used to introduce random mutations or errors into DNA sequences during the amplification process.
A: Error-prone PCR is typically performed using a modified DNA polymerase that lacks proofreading abilities. This polymerase has an increased error rate in copying the template DNA compared to regular DNA polymerases.
