The human glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor (GLP1R) is a class B G protein-coupled receptor (GPCR) that plays a key role in glucose metabolism and insulin secretion. GLP1R is primarily expressed in pancreatic β cells and is activated by its endogenous ligand, glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1), which is released by intestinal L cells in response to nutrient intake.
