Customer Q&As
What is Pembrolizumab?

A: Pembrolizumab is an antibody-based medicine that is used to treat different types of cancer.

What is the mechanism of action of Pembrolizumab?

A: Pembrolizumab works by targeting and blocking a protein called PD-1, which is found on the surface of some immune cells. This protein helps prevent the immune system from attacking healthy cells in the body. However, tumors can also use PD-1 to trick the immune system into thinking they are normal cells. Pembrolizumab stops this from happening, enabling the immune system to better recognize and attack cancer cells.

What type of cancer is Pembrolizumab used for?

A: Pembrolizumab is a humanized antibody used in cancer immunotherapy that treats melanoma, lung cancer, head and neck cancer, cervical cancer, Hodgkin lymphoma, stomach cancer, and certain types of breast cancer.

Is pembrolizumab a PD-1 inhibitor?

A: Pembrolizumab is a selectively humanized IgG4 kappa monoclonal antibody that inhibits the programmed death-1 (PD-1) receptor, a component of immune checkpoint regulation in the tumor microenvironment.
