Rice CRISPR/Cas9 Genome Editing Kit (GFP)

For research use only. Not intended for any clinical use.
Cat.No.
CC-13
Description
The Rice CRISPR/Cas9 Genome Editing Kit is a highly effective and universal gene editing kit. It is intended for Agrobacterium-mediated plant transformation. The CRISPR construct contains a sgRNA expression cassette driven by OsU6 promoter, and a codon optimized Cas9 expression cassette driven by ubiquitin promoter. The Rice CRISPR/Cas9 Genome Editing Kit is applicable to modify genes in almost all kinds of monocots, especially in rice.
Applications
The Rice CRISPR/Cas9 Genome Editing Kit is applicable to modify genes in almost all kinds of monocots, especially in rice.
Efficiency
Cas9 expression cassette and sgRNA expression cassette are combined into one vector which offers a higher transformation efficiency.
Features
•Two functional components are combined into one vector which offers a higher transfection efficiency.
•High expression level of Cas9 protein in monocots by using maize ubiquitin promoter and monocot codon optimized-Cas9.
•High activity of sgRNA in rice by using OsU6 (rice U6) promoter.
•Mutiplex genome editing
Resistance
Kanamycin

Q & A

Customer Reviews

Customer Q&As
How is CRISPR-Cas9 used in rice?

A: Currently, CRISPR/Cas9 technology is widely used by researchers for genome editing to achieve the desired biological objectives, because of its simple targeting. Over the past few years many genes that are related to various aspects of rice grain quality have been successfully edited via CRISPR/Cas9 technology.

What is the genome size of rice?

A: The rice genome is well mapped and well characterized, and it is the smallest of the major cereal crop genomes at an estimated 400 to 430 Mb.

Why does rice have more genes than humans?

A: The researchers theorize that rice has more genes than humans do because in plants, protein diversity depends on gene duplication. In humans, protein diversity depends not only on gene duplication, but also, on alternative splicing.

Can gene editing improve rice yield?

A: Yes, turning off a particular gene in rice could enhance grain yields by 8 percent, according to a new study.

Great Kit

Great kit. The Rice CRISPR/Cas9 Genome Editing Kit helped me successfully knock-out the endogenous MYB30, a cold tolerance gene, simultaneously with other two yield related genes.
