A: Deoxyadenosine triphosphate (dATP) is a nucleotide used in DNA synthesis (or replication) in cells and serves as a substrate for DNA polymerase.
A: The key difference between ATP and dATP is that ATP is ribonucleotides whereas dATP is deoxyribonucleotides. Moreover, the functional difference between them is that ATP acts as the energy currency of the cell as well as a building block of RNA, while dATP acts as a precursor for DNA synthesis.
A: Briefly, dATP is the precursor of DNA synthesis, while ddATP is the nucleotide used in Sanger sequencing to terminate DNA synthesis. In addition, dATP has an OH group at the 3′ position of the pentose sugar, which can form a phosphodiester bond with the next nucleotide.
A: Deoxyadenosine triphosphate (dATP) is one of the four nucleotide bases used in the polymerase chain reaction (PCR) to replicate the DNA sequence of interest. It pairs with the thymine (T) base in the DNA template strand during the amplification process.
