Syn-HA-hM3D(Gq)-mCherry AAV (serotype 9) is an advanced genetic tool designed for neuroscience research, particularly for modulating neuronal activity. This pre-made adeno-associated virus (AAV) leverages the unique capabilities of serotype 9 vectors, known for their superior transduction efficiency in neurons following systemic administration. The vector expresses a designer receptor specifically activated by designer drugs (DREADDs), HA-hM3D(Gq), fused to the fluorescent protein mCherry, under the control of the human synapsin promoter.

The human synapsin promoter ensures that expression is primarily restricted to neurons, making this vector particularly useful for in vivo and in vitro studies aimed at probing neuronal behavior and neural circuit function.
