Customer Q&As
How do lentiviruses integrate into the host genome?

A: After lentivirus is transduced into host cells, the lentiviral RNA genome is reverse transcribed into complementary DNA (cDNA) and then integrated into the host cell genome.

What is the process of pseudotyping?

A: Pseudotyping refers to the process of replacing the envelope protein of one virus with the envelope protein of a different virus. This allows the recombinant virus to inherit the host range and tropism characteristics of the virus providing the envelope protein.

What is the difference between the D614G mutation and the original virus?

A: Studies have shown that the D614G mutation enhances the infectivity of the virus by increasing the number of functional spikes on the surface of the virus, allowing it to enter host cells more efficiently. This mutation does not appear to significantly affect the severity of the disease or the immune response mounted by the host.
