| Description | Human GABRA4 nanodisc contains full length human GABRA4 protein that is produced from HEK293 cells. Our nanodisc platform employs the mammalian expression system, which ensures that the Human GABRA4 protein closely resembles its native counterpart in terms of structure, function, and post-translational modifications, while maintaining exceptional solubility and stability. This nanodisc is an optimal tool for investigating the Human GABRA4 membrane protein. |

| Features |
1) Full-length membrane protein 2) Utilizing a mammalian expression system to ensure that the protein closely resembles its native counterpart in terms of structure, function, and post-translational modifications 3) Maintaining the native spatial conformation and activity of the membrane protein 4) Possessing high solubility and stability 5) High purity determined by HPLC 6) No detergents need to be added in subsequent experiments, and it can be directly applied to cytological analysis |
| Applications |
1) Studying protein structure and function: Understanding the structure and activity of membrane proteins in a native-like environment. 2) Studying protein-protein and protein-ligand interactions: Analyzing how membrane proteins interact with other molecules, such as antibodies or other proteins. 3) Drug discovery: Identifying and characterizing potential drug candidates that target membrane proteins. 4) Developing antibodies: Screening and characterizing antibodies that bind to membrane proteins. |

| Background | Gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) is the major inhibitory neurotransmitter in the mammalian brain where it acts at GABA-A receptors, which are ligand-gated chloride channels. Chloride conductance of these channels can be modulated by agents such as benzodiazepines that bind to the GABA-A receptor. At least 16 distinct subunits of GABA-A receptors have been identified. This gene encodes subunit alpha-4, which is involved in the etiology of autism and eventually increases autism risk through interaction with another subunit, gamma-aminobutyric acid receptor beta-1 (GABRB1). Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found in this gene.[provided by RefSeq, Feb 2011] |
