Description Leucine-rich repeat kinase 2 (LRRK2), also known as dardarin (from the Basque word "dardara" which means trembling), is an enzyme that in humans is encoded by the PARK8 gene. Variants of this gene has been associated with both familial and sporadic forms of Parkinson's disease (PD). LRRK2 R1628P variants have been extensively examined for the association to the risk of Parkinson's disease.
