The following safety precautions should be observed. 1. Use pipette aids to prevent ingestion and keep aerosols down to a minimum. 2. No eating, drinking or smoking while handling the stable line. 3. Wash hands after handling the stable line and before leaving the lab. 4. Decontaminate work surface with disinfectant or 70% ethanol before and after working with stable cells. 5. All waste should be considered hazardous. 6. Dispose of all liquid waste after each experiment and treat with bleach. |

The human FGFR2 gene, located on chromosome 10q26.13, encodes fibroblast growth factor receptor 2, a member of the receptor tyrosine kinase family. Through alternative splicing in the immunoglobulin III domain, FGFR2 generates two major isoforms: IIIb (also known as KGFR) and IIIc. The IIIb isoform predominantly binds FGF7/KGF and FGF10, playing critical roles in epithelial cell proliferation, differentiation, and tissue morphogenesis. The Human FGFR2IIIb Stable Cell Line-HEK293 is created by stably transfecting the human FGFR2IIIb gene into the HEK293 background, resulting in a cell line that constitutively expresses the full-length FGFR2IIIb receptor on the plasma membrane. This cell line is designed for consistent, long-term use in receptor signaling studies, with the receptor retaining its native extracellular domain, transmembrane segment, and intracellular tyrosine kinase domain, enabling ligand-induced autophosphorylation and downstream pathway activation.
This stable cell line serves as a versatile tool for a range of applications in drug discovery and basic research. It is well suited for evaluating the activity and selectivity of FGFR2 kinase inhibitors, screening compound libraries for potential therapeutic candidates targeting FGFR signaling, and studying the molecular mechanisms of FGFR2IIIb-mediated signal transduction, including the MAPK/ERK and PI3K/AKT pathways. The line can also be used to investigate ligand-receptor interactions, assess antibody-based therapeutics or bispecific molecules that target FGFR2, and support functional assays such as cell proliferation or migration studies in the context of FGFR2-overexpressing systems. Additionally, it provides a controlled cellular model for exploring FGFR2IIIb involvement in diseases where this isoform is implicated, including certain cancers and developmental disorders, making it a reliable platform for both academic and pharmaceutical research.
