ADGRG1 (adhesion G protein-coupled receptor G1), also known as GPR56, is a member of the adhesion G protein-coupled receptor (aGPCR) family and plays a key role in cell adhesion, signaling, and tissue development. This receptor is characterized by a large extracellular N-terminus, which mediates interactions with extracellular matrix components and cell surface ligands, and a seven-transmembrane domain that transmits intracellular signals via G proteins. ADGRG1 is highly expressed in the central nervous system, immune cells, and various tissues, regulating processes such as neuronal migration, synaptic plasticity, and immune responses. Dysregulation of ADGRG1 has been linked to neurological diseases, cancer progression, and immune dysfunction, making it a promising therapeutic target.
Human ADGRG1 virus-like particles (VLPs) are non-infectious, self-assembling nanostructures designed to mimic the native structure and function of ADGRG1. These VLPs are typically produced by expressing ADGRG1 or its extracellular domain in recombinant systems (such as mammalian or insect cells), where they form particles that resemble the viral envelope but lack viral genetic material. ADGRG1 VLPs retain the receptor''s ligand binding and signaling properties, making them valuable tools for studying receptor-ligand interactions, antibody development, and therapeutic screening. Their high immunogenicity and safety profile also make them potential vaccine candidates for ADGRG1-related diseases, such as glioblastoma or autoimmune diseases.
