Q & A

Customer Reviews

AAV6, or adeno-associated virus serotype 6, is one of the various serotypes of adeno-associated virus (AAV). AAVs are small, non-enveloped viruses belonging to the family Parvoviridae and the genus Dependoparvovirus. They do not cause disease in humans and are often used as vectors for gene therapy due to their ability to efficiently deliver genetic material to a variety of cell types with relatively low immunogenicity. AAV6 is particularly known for its ability to transduce (i.e. introduce genetic material into) different types of cells, including airway epithelial cells, muscle cells, and certain types of immune cells. This makes it a versatile tool for gene therapy applications. For example, it has been used in research and clinical studies targeting genetic diseases, with the goal of correcting the defective gene that causes the disease. AAV6 virus-like particles (empty capsids) are biological structures that closely resemble natural adeno-associated virus serotype 6 (AAV6), but do not have any genomic material inside. These empty capsids mimic the outer protein coat of AAV6, maintaining the same structural integrity and surface features as functional AAV6, but without the viral DNA. Their design allows for broad utility in both research and clinical settings while eliminating the risks associated with the presence of viral genes or the transfer of genetic material.
Customer Q&As
How can I choose the optimal AAV serotypes for my in vivo study?

A: Creative Biogene has launched a comprehensive AAV production service, offering a wide range of AAV serotypes and a variety of capsid engineered AAV vectors are available for targeting different tissues and organs. Different AAV serotypes have different tissue tropism in vivo, the common serotypes and their tropism are listed in the above table 1. Therefore, you can select the most suitable AAV serotype for your study according to your experiment demands.

What's the difference of AAV titer unit between GC/ml and vg/ml?

A: The AAV titer unit GC/ml and vg/ml can be used interchangeably, based on qPCR method.

Perfect Experiment Tool

I purchased the product as a control and it was a great help in determining whether the changes observed in the animals were due to the introduction of the gene of interest.
