| Description | Vesicular stomatitis virus (VSV)-derived anterograde polysynaptic neuronal tracer expressing enhanced green fluorescent protein (EGFP). VSV is a bullet-shaped, enveloped, negative-sense RNA virus (~11 kb) of the Rhabdoviridae family. With its native G glycoprotein intact, VSV specifically transports anterogradely between connected neurons. After injection, the virus infects starter neurons, replicates, and progeny virions are transported along the axon to presynaptic terminals and cross synapses into downstream neurons, repeating the cycle to enable multi-level anterograde labeling of output networks with bright EGFP. |
