Viral NucleicAcids Extraction Kit (Magbead) is used for the extraction and purification of viral DNA/RNA from swabs, serum, plasma, alveolar lavage fluid, tissue homogenate and other samples. The SARS-CoV-2 virus is a betacoronavirus, like MERS-CoV and SARS-CoV. The virus has been named “SARS-CoV-2(Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus 2)” and the disease it causes has been named “coronavirus disease 2019” (abbreviated “COVID-20”). The fact that this disease has caused illness, including illness resulting in death, and sustained person-to-person spread is concerning.
