| Description | Human KCNAB2 nanodisc contains full length human KCNAB2 protein that is produced from HEK293 cells. Our nanodisc platform employs the mammalian expression system, which ensures that the Human KCNAB2 protein closely resembles its native counterpart in terms of structure, function, and post-translational modifications, while maintaining exceptional solubility and stability. This nanodisc is an optimal tool for investigating the Human KCNAB2 membrane protein. |

| Features |
1) Full-length membrane protein 2) Utilizing a mammalian expression system to ensure that the protein closely resembles its native counterpart in terms of structure, function, and post-translational modifications 3) Maintaining the native spatial conformation and activity of the membrane protein 4) Possessing high solubility and stability 5) High purity determined by HPLC 6) No detergents need to be added in subsequent experiments, and it can be directly applied to cytological analysis |
| Applications |
1) Studying protein structure and function: Understanding the structure and activity of membrane proteins in a native-like environment. 2) Studying protein-protein and protein-ligand interactions: Analyzing how membrane proteins interact with other molecules, such as antibodies or other proteins. 3) Drug discovery: Identifying and characterizing potential drug candidates that target membrane proteins. 4) Developing antibodies: Screening and characterizing antibodies that bind to membrane proteins. |

| Background | Voltage-gated potassium (Kv) channels represent the most complex class of voltage-gated ion channels from both functional and structural standpoints. Their diverse functions include regulating neurotransmitter release, heart rate, insulin secretion, neuronal excitability, epithelial electrolyte transport, smooth muscle contraction, and cell volume. Four sequence-related potassium channel genes - shaker, shaw, shab, and shal - have been identified in Drosophila, and each has been shown to have human homolog(s). This gene encodes a member of the potassium channel, voltage-gated, shaker-related subfamily. This member is one of the beta subunits, which are auxiliary proteins associating with functional Kv-alpha subunits. This member alters functional properties of the KCNA4 gene product. Alternative splicing of this gene results in multiple transcript variants encoding distinct isoforms. [provided by RefSeq, Dec 2010] |
