| Safety Considerations |
The following safety precautions should be observed. 1. Use pipette aids to prevent ingestion and keep aerosols down to a minimum. 2. No eating, drinking or smoking while handling the stable line. 3. Wash hands after handling the stable line and before leaving the lab. 4. Decontaminate work surface with disinfectant or 70% ethanol before and after working with stable cells. 5. All waste should be considered hazardous. 6. Dispose of all liquid waste after each experiment and treat with bleach. |

MIA PaCa-2 is a human pancreatic cancer cell line widely used in pancreatic cancer research and therapeutic development. In 1977, MIA PaCa-2 cells were derived from cancer in a 65-year-old man. These cells display CK5.6, AE1/AE3, E-cadherin, vimentin, chromogranin A, synaptophysin, SSTR2, and NTR1, but not CD56. This cell line is commonly used as a model system in cancer research to study the properties and behavior of pancreatic cancer cells and for drug screening and development.
