The acidic fibroblast growth factor (aFGF) adenovirus is a recombinant viral vector designed to deliver the aFGF gene to target cells for therapeutic or research purposes. Adenovirus is a nonenveloped, double-stranded DNA virus widely used in gene therapy due to its high transduction efficiency, broad tissue tropism, and ability to infect both dividing and non-dividing cells. The aFGF gene encodes a potent mitogenic protein that plays a key role in cell proliferation, angiogenesis, and tissue repair. By integrating the aFGF gene into the adenoviral backbone, this construct enables efficient transient expression of aFGF in vitro and in vivo.
