Description Creative Biogene Cotton (Leaf) Direct PCR Kit is specially designed to amplify DNA directly from maize leaf tissue. The kit uses a propriety formulated lysis reagent to release nucleic acids from maize leaf tissue. No DNA purification is required and unpurified DNA can be directly used as template for PCR.

How many genes are in maize?

A: For maize, analysis of ≈475,000 BAC end sequences led to the estimation that the maize genome contains ≈59,000 genes and is ≈58% repetitive DNA. Further, sequence analysis of 100 randomly selected BAC clones from maize led to the prediction of 42,000–56,000 gene models and at least 66% repetitive DNA.

How does PCR detect transgenic maize?

A: The genetic analysis uses molecular techniques to detect the inserted transgenic maize DNA in a sample. The method most commonly used for this purpose is PCR (Polymerase Chain Reaction). The PCR technique amplifies (copies) the DNA billions of times in order for detection and quantitation to be possible.
