S100A8, also known as calgranulin A or myeloid-related protein 8 (MRP8), is a member of the S100 calcium-binding protein family. It is encoded by the S100A8 gene located on human chromosome 1. S100A8 normally forms a heterodimer with S100A9, and this complex plays a key role in inflammation and immune responses.
