Oryza Sativa Transformation Service

As a leading provider in plant genetic engineering, Creative Biogene develops a full-fledged transformation platform for rice using callus induced from mature seed. Based on fully equipped tissue culture room and greenhouse, we have the ability to provide transformation service year-round for global clients. Besides, we have significant expertise in protocol development for a wide range of tissue culture processes including micropropagation, plant regeneration, protoplast isolation, protoplast transformation etc.

Rice (oryza sativa) is the staple food for nearly half of the world population as well as an excellent model plant in biological experiments. Genetic transformation of rice by introducing beneficial traits is now a central research instrument in plant physiology and a practical tool for crop improvement. At present, Agrobacterium-mediated transformation is the most popular method for introducing foreign gene into receptor, due to its high efficiency, stable and low copy integration.

To accelerate the progress of rice breeding and improvement, Creative Biogene devotes to optimize transformation system and increase efficiency. At present, our transformation efficiency for most genotypes reaches up to 80%. We assist global clients to transfer foreign gene into over 600 rice lines, including japonica rice (Nipponbare, M202, Zhonghua11, Nakdong), indica rice (9311, Kasalath, IR64, IR72, Suweon258, Nanjing11, Minghui86), hybrid rice and wild rice.

We generally offer 10-15 independent transgenic lines per construct. Finally, a detailed project report will be delivered to customers, which mainly includes the following:

  • Partial pictures of callus induction, co-cultivation, callus differentiation, plantlet regeneration and selection.
  • The agarose gel electrophoretogram of foreign gene detection.

In addition, Creative Biogene utilizes a unique double T-DNA binary vector to accomplish multigene expression or obtain transgenic plants of marker gene-free. We also introduce a series of expression vectors, which are promoted by constitutive promotor (p35S, pUbi, pNos) or inducible promoter (pRbcs, pEr, Pg1090).
