Maize Mutant Library    

CRISPR/Cas9 PlatformCB is a genome editing platform focused on overcoming the limitations of conventional breeding and accelerating the development of improved crops. Our professional plant genome editing team has developed a maize mutant library covering about 800 functional genes using CRISPR/Cas9 technology. Moreover, we utilize gene editing to improve agronomic traits (e.g., plant grain yield, nutritional content, disease resistance) and speed-up crop domestication.

As one of the most important crops for food, feed, and fuel in agriculture, raising the yield of maize (Zea mays) will contribute to meeting our needs for food production beyond current projections. Development of elite variety through conventional breeding method usually takes 8-10 years. With the use of genome editing technology known as CRISPR-Cas9, the breeding process can be accelerated, thereby reducing the time required to 2-3 years only. Thus, the breeders get faster access to improved maize varieties.
