By binding of the final radioisotope labeled products to filters, unreacted phosphate can be washed away without interfering with the detection of real phosphorylated products (Haiching, et al. 2008). In addition, scintillation proximity assay (SPA) is also used in radiometric kinase activity test.

The FRET assay is a kind of technology that is amenable to automation. This assay uses ‘donor’ and ‘acceptor’ fluorophores in proximity, with the excited donor fluorophore exhibiting nonradiative energy transfer to an acceptor fluorophore (Haiching, et al. 2008).
